About Us

Charlotte Veterinary Clinic was started in 1952 by Dr. Curtis Fincher in the same location it is today, at the corner of Albemarle Road and Sharon Amity. Charlotte Veterinary Clinic is a small animal practice.

Dr. David B. Todd, D.V.M., joined Charlotte Veterinary Clinic in 1976 and worked with Dr. Fincher until Dr. Fincher’s unexpected passing in 1986. Dr. Todd bought Charlotte Veterinary Clinic and became the sole owner and sole veterinarian of the office in 1988 and still is today. He is one of the few single veterinarian practices in the Charlotte area, so it is truly a small business serving the community. Many of Dr. Todd’s clients have been coming for pet care for decades and continue to come to him after they have moved to other areas of Charlotte. Some of his clients that have moved to the Gastonia and Lake Norman area still return to him for yearly wellness checkups and vaccinations. The staff and Dr. Todd enjoy working with pets and enjoy the relationships that they have developed with clients and entire families, several generations of which come into the office.

Dr. Todd has been in practice for 35 years and has extensive experience and knowledge of pet health. His staff also has years of experience in serving the needs of both pets and their family members through animal health care and education. Dr. Todd and his staff look forward to meeting you and serving you!

Some Interesting History about the Clinic and Area:
At the time Charlotte Veterinary Clinic was established in 1952, it was in a rural section of the county with three dairy farm operations between the office and downtown Charlotte. It is hard for many to imagine that at one time this area was “in the country” and to think as you are driving today into town on Albemarle Road and down Independence that it was once a very different landscape. There has been a lot of growth and expansion of the Queen City since then.
